Vulcanized Fibre Sheet/Rod

Vulcanized Fibre Sheet/Rod is a dense, laminated cellulose material manufactured through a specialized vulcanization process that produces a tough, durable, and lightweight engineering material. Known for its excellent electrical insulation properties and mechanical strength, Vulcanized Fibre Sheet/Rod has been widely used across industrial, electrical, and manufacturing industries for decades.

This material offers outstanding dielectric properties, making it an excellent choice for electrical insulation applications where reliable performance and safety are essential. Its non-conductive characteristics help protect electrical systems, components, and assemblies from short circuits and electrical failures.

Vulcanized Fibre Sheet/Rod provides excellent impact resistance and toughness while remaining lightweight. Its ability to absorb shock and resist cracking under mechanical stress makes it suitable for demanding industrial applications requiring durability and long service life.

The material also exhibits excellent machinability and fabrication characteristics. It can be easily cut, drilled, punched, turned, milled, and fabricated into custom components, allowing manufacturers to create precision parts and assemblies for specialized applications.

Vulcanized Fibre Sheet/Rod offers good abrasion resistance and dimensional stability, helping maintain performance under repeated use and challenging operating conditions. Its strength-to-weight ratio makes it a preferred material for lightweight structural and insulating components.

Because it is manufactured from cellulose-based materials, Vulcanized Fibre Sheet/Rod provides an environmentally friendly alternative for many industrial applications while delivering dependable mechanical and electrical performance.

Industries including electrical manufacturing, power distribution, transportation, aerospace, automotive, industrial equipment, telecommunications, machinery manufacturing, and general fabrication rely on Vulcanized Fibre Sheet/Rod for reliable insulation and structural performance.

What is VULCANIZED FIBRE?

Vulcanized Fibre is a low pressure laminate. Vulcanized Fibre is one of the oldest plastics with its earliest form dating back to 1879. It is formed by the reaction between natural wood or cotton “fibres” and various chemicals such as zinc chloride, acids, and bases to produce a slurry.

The slurry is then flattened under heat or steam by hydraulic presses or rolls. This method produces finished thin calendered sheets and thick hydraulic pressed sheet. The desired thickness is achieved by laminating these thin continuous fibre sheets.

Vulcanized fibre can be machined in much the same way as other plastics. It can easily be formed, bent, sawed, sheared, punched, milled, turned, and drilled. Applications should be limited to temperatures below 425 degrees F.

What is FISH PAPER?

Fish Paper is thin (from .005″ to .062″) and flexible vulcanized fibre. It is a special grade of fibre sheet with superior chemical properties. It can be furnished in roll form in thicknesses from .005″ to .093″. It has superior bending qualities, and is especially suitable for barrier shielding insulation. The standard sheet is 54″ X 84″.
